What can I expect from the Familyhood Statewide Training?

The Familyhood Statewide Training is a comprehensive, in-person event designed to foster collaboration and enhance support systems for families across Oklahoma. Over two days, you will connect with more than 1,000 human services professionals, engage in high-impact plenaries and breakout sessions, and learn about new strategies under the Familyhood initiative that support family resilience and well-being.

Who's invited to the Familyhood Statewide Training?

All staff from Oklahoma Human Services’ Adult and Family Services division and specialized contractors are required to attend the Familyhood Statewide Training. Alongside them, select community partner organizations are also strongly encouraged to participate. This event is a strategic collaboration aimed at enhancing the well-being and support systems for families across Oklahoma.

Partner organizations include a variety of professionals from sectors such as education, community health, social services, and local government agencies that align with the goals of the Familyhood initiative. Essential to our mission, these partners help to ensure that our comprehensive support reaches every family in need throughout the state.

What is Familyhood?

Familyhood is an integrated framework developed by Oklahoma Human Services to enhance the support provided to families across the state. It aligns various initiatives under one comprehensive strategy to promote the well-being and economic stability of families, particularly those that are low-income or vulnerable. By focusing on critical areas such as parenthood, childhood, neighborhood, and livelihood, Familyhood seeks to strengthen community ties and ensure that every family has the resources they need to thrive. This initiative represents a commitment to using evidence-based approaches to uplift families and improve their quality of life.

What does it cost to attend the training?

The Familyhood Statewide Training is fully funded by OKDHS Adult and Family Services, ensuring no cost to attendees. This includes all sessions, materials, meals provided during the training, and accommodations for those eligible. We hope you will take advantage of this opportunity and hope to see you there!

Is attendance at the training mandatory?

For OKDHS Adult and Family Services staff, attendance is mandatory, as this event is critical for aligning our strategies and enhancing our service to vulnerable families. For other invited groups, organizations, or divisions attending, please check with your respective leaders to understand your attendance policy for this event. This training is designed to benefit a wide range of professionals committed to supporting families, and we encourage broad participation to maximize the impact of our collective efforts.

I was invited to a pre-meeting with my team on October 15. What are the details?

Various departments and teams within OKDHS are arranging pre-meetings to coincide with the Statewide Training. If you’ve been invited to one of these sessions, it’s an excellent opportunity for focused team discussions and strategic planning before the main event. Your team leader or direct supervisor will provide you with specific details about the time, location, and agenda closer to the date.

Are accommodations provided?

Hotel accommodations within the Statewide Training room block are pre-arranged and funded for specific groups by their departments or divisions. If you are a member of one of these groups, you will receive information about your hotel, including location and check-in times, via email prior to the event.

We’re excited to announce that we’ve expanded our room block to include options for personal reservations! This is your chance to stay right near all the action at the OKC Convention Center. Please discuss any reimbursement possibilities with your organization or supervisor as needed.

What should I do about hotel incidentals?

The hotel will place a temporary hold on your card to cover these potential costs, which will be released upon checkout if no charges are made. This hold may take 5-7 business days to be removed from your account. Please note, any incidental expenses incurred during your stay are your responsibility to cover.

Where can I park at the OKC Convention Center, and will I be reimbursed?
